Lesson 01 by Andrew Hou

Last week I did my first assignment for the digital painting course I'm taking from Andrew Hou at Schoolism. Here's the result of the first assignment: Do a sketch in photoshop...
...and some simple blocking of value.
Today I got my video feedback on my 1st assignment. To sum it up; Try to loosen up my sketches in photoshop and try get out your comfort zone by going for more 'realistic' sketches during this workshop. Here's my first attempts working with the feedback: Trying to build up a sketch that feels more loose and sketchy:
Simple blocking of value:
...and an extra sketch I did, trying to get comfortable with trying some new brushes to sketch with and the workflow.
Next lesson: Light and Shadows!

Martha Sigall

Yesterday I visited Warner Bros. Part of the VIP tour is a visit to the backlot museum. Inside the museum there's a wall full with original Chuck Jones sketches and Maurice Noble background paintings from the classic Bugs Bunny and Road Runner cartoons. In front of the wall stood this little old lady. It was Martha Sigall, one of the last living links to the golden age of animation! I got to talk to her briefly and she shared some great stories about her time working with Chuck Jones and Tex Avery. Here's a video where Martha talks about her career.
